The Women’s World Cup in France is certainly proving to be a big hit this summer with reports claiming that the competition is breaking viewing figures across the globe.

Countries in all continents are seeing 15-75% growth in viewing figures from the previous tournaments in 2011 and 2015, respectively.

In the UK, the match between England and Scotland drew in a sensational audience of 4.5million, dwarfing the other sporting event it was competing with  – the men’s World Cup match involving England and Bangladesh.

It shows what can be done in the women’s game when one of the most esteemed footballing countries hosts a tournament within a wealthy infrastructure.
