Case Studies: Betfair

Across many of Betfair's 'zone' pages Abelson Info have been the provider chosen to implement a custom software solution for delivering integrated live scores, form, and other content.

Using our existing knowledge of industry feed formats and the front end technology used within Betfair, Abelson Info were able to quickly and efficiently design and implement an efficient and reusable solution.

In 2008, Betfair approached Abelson Info to provide a custom software solution for integrating live soccer scores and form data - initially for Euro 2008 - directly into their sports “zone” view. The live scores were provided by a third party, Betradar, and form was provided by Abelson Info's football XML feed.

Abelson Info devised a JSON feed format, that tightly integrated data from the Betfair API, to display real time live scores inline in the soccer zone view.

The success of this project prompted Betfair to ask Abelson Info to extend the solution to cover all live soccer for the commencement of the 2008/09 season.

In 2009 this was further extended by integrating further data from Opta Sports, to provide textual match preview information, and tables.

The system currently provides Betfair customers with up-to-date form information for over 25,000 soccer fixtures a year.

In parallel with the ongoing development of the football live scores, Abelson Info have also implemented live scores and form within the Betfair zones for

  • Cricket
  • Snooker
  • Darts

Live scores and form for these sports is provided directly by Abelson Info's XML feeds.
